Initially, I had two really different ideas for my photo book.
When I was a kid, I was really obsessed with big leaves, I used to pick them up and take them home with me.I thought that a collection of these would be a nice little nod to this.
I photographed a few different leaves I saw on the streets but found them very boring shots. This series didn’t really inspire me at all.
The next one I tried was half reflections in a train window with the world blurred behind it. Again, I found shooting this quite boring so decided against it.
After these, I thought about themes of childhood and travel that had underpinned my previous two ideas and looked at the ideas of street signs.
In a show I watch called Jessica Jones, she repeats the street names where she grew up to make herself feel better. So I thought that I’d photograph the streets that I grew up on and significant streets up until this point in my life for my photo book, so it tells a subtle story of my life geographically.
